Size Charts for Leather Jackets and Coats

When you wear the appropriate jacket, you may avoid fashion disasters and look your best. Finding the right size is a breeze with our charts for men, women, and children's US jacket sizes, conversions to EU and UK sizes, and simple measurement guidance. Simply follow our measurement instructions, enter your size in inches, then choose your jacket size from the US or International options.

How to find your Jacket Size

  • You'll need to carefully measure several regions of your body, most notably your (1) chest and (2) height, to select a jacket that fits you perfectly. If you're not a normal size or symmetrically proportioned, take measurements for your (3) sleeve, (4) shoulder, (5) waist, and (6) jacket length as well. After you've taken these measurements, use the jacket size chart in this page to determine your garment size.

  • Add 1-2 inches to your jacket measurement for overcoats that are designed to be worn over a suit. Raincoats, which are typically worn even looser, may simply be tacked on for up to 4 inches, depending on your personal fit.

  • Women's European sizes are divided into three categories: regular (65-68 inches), short (less than 65 inches), and long (more than 65 inches) (body height above 68 inches).

  • Men's European sizes are separated into three categories: normal (body height 63-81 inches), slim (body height 68-78 inches), and tiny.

Jacket Measurement Guide

How to measure for a man’s jacket size

All measures should be taken near to the body, but not constrictingly. Remember to avoid measuring over thick apparel. Under the jacket, you should wear anything you normally would. Taking your measurements, like a tango, is much easier with two people.

  • The most essential measurement for jacket size is the circumference of the chest. This is one of those occasions when having a second person on hand would make things a lot simpler. Wrap the tape measure across your chest at its broadest point by lifting your arms slightly above parallel to the floor. Allow for no more than one inch of slack in the tape. You may add another inch to casual coats.

  • Waist: The waist is measured in the same way as the chest, except this time the tape is wrapped around the body around the navel.

  • Jacket length: The perfect jacket length for you will certainly vary depending on the sort of jacket you intend to buy. Typical jacket sizes are designed to fit people with standard bodies. You'll need to measure your upper body if you're shorter or taller than normal. Measure from the top of your shoulder with the tape measure while standing straight and upright.

How do you measure for a woman’s jacket size?

All measurements should be taken close to the body and over the garments you would regularly wear beneath the jacket, just as they are for males.

  • Chest: As previously stated, the most crucial body dimension for jacket measurement is the chest circumference. Straighten your back. Lift your arms and have a trustworthy measuring companion put the tape measure over your chest. Make sure the tape measure has enough room to move (at least an inch). You can add one inch depending on the kind of jacket (casual vs. dressy) (casual can be looser). With a tape measure, measure horizontally around the body at the widest area of the chest.

  • Hip: Measurement is obtained in the same way as the chest, but this time at the hips. At the broadest point of the hips, take a horizontal measurement.

  • Height : Please remove your shoes before measuring your height from head to toe. Simply stand up straight, back against a wall, and place a ruler horizontally across the top of your head, intersecting the wall. From the mark to the floor, measure vertically. The door frame is a common measurement spot because it allows the height markings to be seen for posterity, similar to cave paintings.

Exceptions for Some European Jacket Sizes

European jacket sizes differ from those of their American equivalents in several circumstances. You may get more information on European Sizes here. The European jacket size falls into one of three groups, depending on your body height:

Normal, similar to European clothes sizes 32 to 62 for a 65- to 68-inch (165-172 cm) physical height.

Short, similar to European clothing sizes 16 to 29 for a physical height of less than 65 inches (165 cm).

Long, for body heights more than 68 inches (172 cm), and corresponds to European clothing sizes 68 to 116.

Normal, thin, and small sizes are available for men. Three different figure kinds are covered by jackets:

Standard: Jackets in the "Standard" category of European sizes 40 to 78 should fit people with a body height of 63-81 inch (160-206 cm) and average proportions.

Small: The matching jacket for smaller and proportionately somewhat stouter men may be found in this category. Jackets are frequently cut generously. Models that are tailored are uncommon.

Slim: European sizes 88 to 114 are appropriate for men with a somewhat thinner chest and a body height between 68 and 78 inches (174-197 cm). They also have a variety of outfits for different weather situations.

Measurement Tips for Coats

Coats are often more expensive investments, so you'll want them to endure as long as possible. As a result, it is more crucial than ever to ensure that the fit is perfect. Coats are often worn over various outfit combinations (e.g., suits, sweaters, sometimes even jackets). As a result, it's vital that the coat you choose isn't too tight.

Add 1-2 inches to your coat measures if you're wearing a more formal overcoat with a suit underneath. Depending on your desired style, you may simply add up to 4 inches to raincoats.
